Game Day Parking for Students

Student parking information for football game on Saturday, Nov. 25

On Saturday, Nov. 25, the following parking lots on App State’s Boone campus require a Game Day Permit — regular Boone campus parking permits are not valid.

  • All unauthorized vehicles must be removed prior to 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
  • Students who plan to leave their vehicle on campus during Thanksgiving break must move it to an unrestricted parking lot prior to 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Restricted parking areas

Vehicles parked in the following areas without a Game Day Permit will be towed at the owner’s expense beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25:

  • All lots near Kidd Brewer Stadium. These include Blue Ridge Parking Deck (Stadium), Champions Lot, East Stadium Gate Lot, North End Zone Lot, Quinn Center Lot, Softball Lot, Stadium Heights Drive and Top of the Rock Lot.
  • Beasley Complex Lot.
  • Broyhill Music Lot.
  • College Street Parking Deck (Library).
  • Doughton Hall Lot.
  • Duncan/Rankin Lot.
  • Garwood Lot.
  • Greenwood Lot.
  • Hill Street Lot.
  • John E. Thomas Lot.
  • Legends Lot.
  • New River Hall Lot.
  • Peacock Lot.
  • Rivers Street Parking Deck.
  • Schaefer Center Lot.
  • Student Recreation Center Lot.

It is strongly suggested that students move their vehicles on or before Friday afternoon/evening to the following unrestricted areas in order to avoid being towed:

  • Appalachian 105 Lot.
  • Bodenheimer Drive Lots (on the right, between the rear of the Student Recreation Center and Mountaineer Hall).
  • South Lot (top of Bodenheimer Drive, beside the wind turbine/baseball stadium).
  • State Farm Lot.

Student parking and traffic information for Homecoming events and football game, Oct. 27–28

As App State celebrates Homecoming, please note the following parking and traffic information for events on Friday, Oct. 27, and the football game on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Homecoming parking and traffic changes for Friday, Oct. 27

On Friday, Oct. 27, App State’s homecoming festivities continue with the annual Homecoming Parade, beginning at 6 p.m.

Blue Ridge (Stadium) surface lot restrictions

  • To accommodate the staging of APPtoberfest, all vehicles must be removed from the Blue Ridge (Stadium) surface lot, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parking Deck (Stadium), by 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. 
  • The lot will reopen at the conclusion of the football game on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Parade route road closures and parking restrictions 

  • Hill Street and the Hill Street Lot will close to incoming traffic at 3 p.m. 
  • Rivers Street, between Hwy. 321 and Stadium Drive, will close to all traffic at 5:45 p.m. 
  • These roads and lots will reopen as soon as the parade clears the area.

Free shuttle to The Rock for App State vs. Southern Miss game

On Saturday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m., App State’s Mountaineers will take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as part of the university’s homecoming festivities.

App State will offer a free, round-trip shuttle service from the Hickory campus to The Rock, located on the Boone campus.

  • Shuttle registration will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
  • Registering for the shuttle does not include a ticket to the game. Your ticket to the game is also your ticket to ride the shuttle. Be prepared to show your game ticket as you board the shuttle.

Shuttle Schedule

  • 11–11:30 a.m. — Hickory campus students board the shuttle near the front entrance.
  • 11:30 a.m. — Shuttle departs Hickory campus.
  • 1 p.m. — The shuttle arrives on the Boone campus, dropping students off at Holmes Convocation Center.
  • 3:30 p.m. — Kickoff for the App State vs. Southern Miss game.
  • 30 minutes post-game — The shuttle departs for the Hickory campus, leaving from Holmes Convocation Center.

Student parking information for football game on Tuesday, Oct. 10

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, App State will host a football game at 7:30 p.m. against Coastal Carolina University. 

Classes will go on as scheduled throughout the day, but Boone campus parking will change from a workday situation to a game day situation through the evening, with some lots converting to game day parking at 4 p.m. and some remaining available for student use throughout the game. Regular Boone campus parking registration is required.

Boone campus parking lots available all day

  • Appalachian 105 Lot*.
  • Appalachian Heights Lot (with appropriate permit only).
  • Bodenheimer Drive Lots (between the Student Recreation Center and Mountaineer Hall).
  • Mountaineer Hall Lot (with appropriate permit only).
  • South Lot (top of Bodenheimer Drive, beside the wind turbine/baseball stadium).
  • State Farm Lot*.

*Existing AppalCART routes are available from these Park & Ride lots. Check the AppalCART website for route maps and schedules, and download the ETA SPOT app for real-time passenger information. 

Boone campus parking lots available until 4 p.m. — appropriate permit required

  • Kidd Brewer Stadium area lots. These include Blue Ridge Parking Deck (Stadium),  East Stadium Gate Lot, New River Hall Lot, Quinn Center Lot, Softball Lot and Top of the Rock Lot.

Free shuttle to The Rock for App State vs. Gardner-Webb game

On Saturday, Sept. 2, at 3:30 p.m., App State’s Mountaineers will take on the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at the first home football game of the season.

Get your ticket to the game

  • To get your ticket for the App State vs. Gardner-Webb game, visit App State Athletics’ Student Ticket page and follow the instructions.
  • Student guest tickets for the game are also on sale through the Student Ticket page.

Register for the student Hickory-to-Boone shuttle

App State will offer a free, roundtrip shuttle service from the Hickory campus to The Rock, located on the Boone campus. Please note the shuttle service does not include a ticket to the game.

  • Register for the shuttle by 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1.
  • Students may reserve shuttle seats for themselves and up to two (2) guests.

Shuttle Schedule

  • 11–11:30 a.m. — Hickory campus students board the shuttle near the front entrance to the building.
