Avoid Problems When Parking in Private Lots or Downtown Spaces
As you may already know, parking in Boone can be challenging. Please read the tips below to prevent your vehicle from being towed, booted, or ticketed.
Booting and Towing in Private Parking Lots
Please be aware that when you are parking in a privately-owned parking area, you run the risk of being towed or booted. This is particularly true for parking lots in close proximity to campus or on the AppalCART routes. For example, many students take the AppalCART from the Boone Mall. Though the Boone Mall staff have allowed commuter parking, the majority of the Boone Mall parking spaces are not designated as park and ride spots for the AppalCART. Please be mindful to not park directly in front of retail entrances or in high traffic areas.
Towing and booting expenses can range from $50 to $80, in addition to the inconvenience of being without a vehicle. Please pay close attention to signage when you enter a private parking area.
*Note: Some parking lots may appear to be public, when in fact they are private. Read all signage in the parking lot to determine what type of lot you are using.
Two-Hour Parking Limits
The Town of Boone has begun enforcing two-hour parking limits on Saturdays in the downtown parking areas. Certain town lots will be paid lots on football weekends. For more information about the new parking regulations, please view the August 18th Mountain Times article. The web link is below:
