Commencement Parking

 Parking notification for Commencement

Spring 2021 in-person commencement ceremonies will be held in the Holmes Convocation Center. The information below is designed to help graduates and guests navigate campus before and during the ceremony. Visit the university's commencement site for additional details.

Free parking for guests attending commencement ceremonies is available in the Rivers Street Parking Deck. All parking is available on a first-come basis. Visit to view additional parking and accessibility information and more.

Guests should plan to be parked at least 45 minutes prior to when their commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin to allow sufficient time to navigate from the Rivers Street Park Deck to the Holmes Center and be seated.

Students and guests may be dropped off on Holmes Drive. Holmes Drive will be operating as a one-way street heading south to north from Faculty Street (by Boonie's Chicago Style Pizza) toward Rivers Street.

Disability Parking

The Holmes Center Lot adjacent to the Holmes Center is available on a first-come basis for guests with DMV-issued disability placards.

Traffic control personnel will be at the intersection of Rivers and Hill streets to direct to the appropriate parking area and accessible routes to the southwest entrance of the Holmes Center.

Faculty/staff who are displaced from these areas may park for the day in the Rivers Street Parking Deck at no charge, or in the Hill Street Lot. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this very important day for the Appalachian community.
